2009 VAVS meetings at Long Beach VA Medical Center , 2010

1. Main topic is for all Post, District, and any persons giving gifts to any in-patient, must abide by the rules of the Volunteer Service. All value of gifts, to whom given, and the hours spent performing this service should be documented on forms provided by  the Volunteer Service located behind the main Hospital in Building 50. The above will provide your Post, District, etc. with the proper reconition you deserve. When visiting L1 Wards, make sure to sign in and record the hours and value of food and gifts, on the sheet located on the end of the bingo cart.

2. Due to masive construction program at the LBVAMV, parking will be very limited. Valet parking is in effect with ground transportation from parking lots to hospital.

3. Safety concern, when visiting inhospital patients, please don't bring them coffee. This practice may conflict with their medication and also can cause burns from hot liquids.

4. "Very Important", Veterans with tarnished service records that have kept them from Veterans Benefits, are now able to apply to the "Veterans Court", at the LBVAMC.

5. To become a LBVAMC volunteer, apply at Volunteer Services, Bldg. 50 in the rear of the main Hospital.

6. Veterans, having problems getting medical service at the LBVAMC, please contact one of the VAVS Reps. listed at the top of this page.

7. The National Personnel Records Center (NPRC) has provided the following website for veterans to gain access to their DD-214's online:

The VA has started a program to put homeless Vets in housing. Donations of housewares will be greatly appreciated. Call JEAN MOONILAL at 562-535-3847. 

Christmas is a time of giving. Many returning veterans and their families are in great need of support in order to servive. PLEASE DONATE TO THESE NEEDY COMBAT VETERANS. CALL (562) 826-5715 Ask for Rex Jennings or Diane Goodpasture.

If you have problems with medical treatment at VA Medical Centers, CONTACT YOUR DOCTOR!. They can cut through the holdup.
